Mission
The mission of the Parent Council is to facilitate communication and support among all of the different groups in the SFWHS community: faculty, students, administration and parents. Essential members of the Parent Council are class parents from each class, heads of the committees sponsored by the Parent Council, the liaison to the parents Coalition of Bay Area High Schools, faculty sponsors and the Dean of Faculty & Students.
All parents are welcome and encouraged to join the Parent Council and to participate in its committees, which include The Healthy Food Project, the Library Committee, Sports Boosters, Hospitality Committee, College Alumni Advisors, and Safety Committee. The SFWHS Parent Council provides an important forum for parents to share ideas and concerns. Its essence is flexibility, collaboration and creativity.
Our goal is to foster a strong sense of community among the parents, to assist the teachers and administration in doing their best work and to support the student body. San Francisco Waldorf High School is a young school. We are establishing our identity in the community of Bay Area independent schools.
In the school community, we are establishing the traditions that will carry us into the future. The Parent Council has an essential role to play in this work. Participation in the Parent Council is a vital way for parents to contribute to the development of the school and to model for their students and fellow parents the ideals of community engagement, generosity of effort and volunteerism that are at the heart of Waldorf Education.
